As a community deeply dedicated to strength, resilience, and unity, it is a great honor to see Tamil Canadians rise to receive recognition for the great work they do nation-wide at this Gala event. The National Council of Canadian Tamils has long been a very important democratic voice for the Tamil Community both in Canada and in Sri Lanka. Tonight’s award ceremony marks the importance of acknowledging the remarkable efforts of individuals throughout the Tamil community in a wide variety of sectors. By standing with this Gala, and the National Council of Canadian Tamils, I stand with the Tamil community’s unwavering commitment to values that are important to all Canadians: pride in one’s heritage, community leadership, and diversity.
