Dear Friends, On behalf of Canada’s New Democrats, it is my pleasure to extend warm greetings to everyone gathered for the National Council of Canadian Tamils’ Grand Gala.

I congratulate this year’s award recipients whose contributions in arts, culture and human rights are a point of pride for the Tamil community and serve as inspiration for Canadians from all backgrounds. Reaching out to uplift each other is at the heart of what it means to be a New Democrat.

In communities from across the country, Canadians of Tamil descent continue to enrich the cultural, political and economic fabric of this country. As Canadians, we are all privileged that so many people from diverse backgrounds proudly call Canada their home.
