Mission and Vision
Representing, Advocating and Advancing the Aspirations of the Tamil People
Founded on June 20, 2010, the National Council of Canadian Tamils (NCCT) was established to represent, advocate for, and advance the aspirations of the Tamil people. Since its inception, NCCT has worked diligently to serve as a unified and democratic voice for Tamil Canadians.
As a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization, NCCT collaborates with all levels of government and key stakeholders both in Canada and internationally. At the grassroots level, it partners with a broad network of Tamil Canadian organizations, including city, regional, youth, seniors, student, educational, sports, village, and charitable groups, to advance the community's shared goals. Internationally, NCCT also works alongside governments, institutions, civil society organizations, and Tamil diaspora organizations.
NCCT also aims to empower Tamil Canadians in all aspects of life in Canada so they can make meaningful contributions to the country's social fabric, while enabling them to actively fulfill their civic duties. NCCT has played a significant role in advocating for international recognition, accountability, and remedial justice in relation to the Tamil Genocide, as well as for a lasting political solution grounded in the Tamil people's right to self-determination in their historical and ancestral homeland.
