Organizing impactful campaigns that amplify Tamil voices and drive meaningful change.
NCCT employs various campaigns including fundraising, awareness, education, advocacy and marketing to achieve its overall goals and objectives as an organization. NCCT's campaigns align with its key areas of focus which include advocating for international recognition, international accountability and remedial justice for the Tamil Genocide, as well as a long-term political solution for the Tamil people based on their inalienable right to self-determination.
Key Campaign Focus Areas
Advocating for international recognition for the Tamil Genocide and advocating for international accountability for the Tamil Genocide are central pillars of NCCT's campaign efforts. Through sustained public awareness campaigns, NCCT works to ensure that the atrocities committed against the Tamil people are acknowledged by the international community and that those responsible are held accountable.
NCCT also campaigns for remedial justice for the Tamil Genocide and advocates for a long-term political solution for the Tamil people based on the Tamil people's inalienable right to self-determination in their historical, traditional and ancestral homeland — the North and East provinces of the island of Sri Lanka.
Combatting Genocide Denial & Foreign Interference
NCCT advocates for strong measures to combat Tamil Genocide denial and distortion. Through education campaigns, public events and legal interventions — including the defence of Bill 104, the Tamil Genocide Education Week Act — NCCT works to counter narratives that seek to minimize or deny the genocide committed against the Tamil people.
NCCT also advocates for strong measures to combat Sri Lanka's foreign interference in Canada, targeting Tamil Canadians. These campaigns aim to protect the rights and safety of Tamil Canadians while raising awareness about the ongoing threats posed by foreign state actors.
Boycott & Awareness Campaigns
NCCT has organized impactful boycott campaigns calling on consumers to boycott products made in Sri Lanka, drawing attention to the Sri Lankan state's apartheid policies and human rights violations against the Tamil people. These campaigns, held at prominent public locations including Toronto's Dundas Square and Yonge Street, have attracted significant media coverage and public engagement.
Through walkathons, rallies, art exhibitions, candlelight vigils and community assemblies, NCCT continues to mobilize Tamil Canadians and allies to amplify the voice of the Tamil people on the national and international stage.
